Body Paragraph 3: Human Rights Law

In this paragraph, you will connect your human rights abuse to the international regulations it is violating. You can use the UNDHR, the UNCRC, and/or the Geneva Conventions.

Pick 3-4 laws that your abuse clearly violates. Pick the most serious violations!

Structure:
ü Include a TS that states which articles are being violated
ü Weave together CDs and CMs to prove that each law is being violated
ü Your first CD can state the law, and your second CD can be proof from your research that the law is being violated. Do NOT repeat facts you’ve already used
ü You need really thorough analysis that shows how the law is being violated
ü Your paragraph absolutely needs a CS!

Example (this is only part of the paragraph):

The state of refugee camps for the Sudanese violates UNDHR articles 5, 25, and Geneva Conventions, Treatment #3. Article 5 of the UNDHR states that all humans should be free from torture and degrading treatment (“Universal”). However, one refugee stated "My husband had been waiting an hour for water for our donkey when three youths tried to push in the line…I was hit on the head” (“In Sudan’s Refugee Camps”). Clearly, the Sudanese living in refugee camps are not able to achieve UNDHR Article 5, because they are forced to dehumanize one another in an effort to get something as basic as water.
