Putting your Sophomore Exhibition Final Draft Together

REMEMBER: NO CHANGES & EDITS WILL RESULT IN A 0/1000 ON YOUR FINAL DRAFT

Make sure all information is in your own words, except direct quotes (which need quotation marks).

Tips:
1. Read all of your rough draft and your intro & conclusion paragraphs through, including the comments that were made.

2. Pay attention to my feedback! If I asked for specific facts that you didn’t provide, go find them! If I said that a paragraph lacked detail, add more detail! In other words—address my comments on all of your paragraphs. Don’t just fix the easy things, like misspellings—tackle the more difficult comments as well. YOU GET MAJOR POINTS FOR MAKING CHANGES! YOU LOSE MAJOR POINTS IF YOU DON’T MAKE CHANGES!

3. Read the rubrics that came with your essay and check it to make sure that you meet these requirements.

4. Make sure that your essay in all one continuous document. You should just have to paste your intro onto the beginning of your rough draft and your conclusion onto the end. You need one annotated works cited page at the end.

5. Add to your analysis!!! Many papers are missing analysis that really connects their CDs to the abuse, NGO and give a picture of what is really going on. Analyze, analyze, analyze!

6. Check and revise your intro. Is it too long? Not long enough? Do you have transitions so that it flows nicely?

7. Check and revise your conclusion. Many of you didn’t offer specific enough solutions. Discuss in great detail how your abuse could be ended. For your transitional justice make sure you also discuss specific steps, as well as how / why that particular transitional justice can help the country heal and move on.

8. Think about the “flow” of your essay.
· You might want to add in transition words at the beginning of a new paragraph
· Make sure that your topic sentences give a good preview of what the paragraphs are about
· Add in a sentence at the end of each paragraph that might fluidly link into the next paragraph.
· Move facts around that fit better elsewhere
· Remove repetitive statements (do not repeat information in body paragraphs 4 and 5)

9. Once you feel that you have a solid draft, don’t forget this step: TEXT NOTES AND WC PAGE (WITH ANNOTATIONS)!
a. Make sure you add in new citations and annotations on your works cited page for new text notes.
b. Put all of your citations and annotations together at the end of your new document.
c. Do you have the correct format for every text note? Did you use JUST the last name of the author OR the first few words of the title?
d. Does every text note have a corresponding entry on your Works Cited page?
e. Are there correct annotations for each citation? Remember, all annotations need to include three sentences about: 1) what the source is, 2) why it’s credible, 3) and how you’re going to use it/how you’ve used it in your paper.
f. Do you have a complete and correct Works Cited page, which only includes sources you actually used? Is it in alpha order? Correct punctuation and formatting, like using italics in the right places?

10. Finally, make sure that your formatting is correct:
a. Your paper should all be in Times New Roman 12pt. font
b. Body Paragraphs should be double-spaced
c. You should NOT have extra spaces in between paragraphs! Remember, you will need to change the settings in word so that it doesn’t do this!
d. Works Cited page should be single-spaced

11. Remember that this is a hard deadline, due Friday at 8AM in the FRONT OFFICE!
