Conclusion Paragraph

You need to finish your conclusion tonight. We will be going to the lab tomorrow to type them up and they will be due at the end of class. Conclusion Paragraph The final paragraph needs to finish your paper by discussing the importance of your abuse to the rest of the world. Since your abuse is still going on, you want to discuss what can be done to effectively end it and heal your country. Structure: This should be more commentary than concrete detail. The only concrete details you should mention are ones that you already used somewhere in the essay already—so you DO NOT need text notes in this paragraph. 1. In the first part of the paragraph, describe realistic solutions to end the abuse. You want to think deeply about realistic, practical solutions. Don’t just say “my country should fire the police.” Talk about what the country can ACTUALLY do! If you think that the abuse is practically impossible to solve, explain why! 2. In the second part of the paragraph (or a second paragraph by itself), you need to make a prediction of the best type of transitional justice that would bring peace to your country, if the abuse were to end. Name the type of transitional justice and explain how it would work to heal your country. If you feel it’s necessary, you can choose more than one type of transitional justice. Example: The only way that the refugee situation in Sudan can end is if the genocide ends, but until then, the international community must step in more. Unfortunately, the genocide has been going on for eight years, and it seems unlikely to end any time soon. Therefore, no matter what kinds of work organizations like the Darfur Dream Team are doing, the refugees will not be able to return home until the genocide ends. Despite this, one possible solution is to get the UN more involved in providing money for refugee camps. The living situation for refugees is absolutely horrible, but if the international community would devote more money to helping these poor Sudanese citizens, then perhaps the world would be fulfilling its ethical responsibility. If the genocide eventually ends, Sudan will need institutional reforms. It seems that the new partition into two separate countries will be an effective way to provide a fresh start for the Sudanese. Each country will need a new set of leaders who have the citizens’ best interests in mind. In addition, the police and military of the Sudan have been torturing and killing Sudanese citizens, so it is obvious that new police and military employees need to be trained to take care of citizens, not harm them. Finally, Sudan needs to create a committee of police, lawyers, and elected officials to go out into communities and villages and teach Sudanese citizens about their rights. The Sudanese refugees who return to their country must have a sense of security, and they will only get this if they can trust the police, the government, and each other, which will be incredibly difficult to achieve.
